Support & FAQ

Which formats does Formatista handle?

WMV, AVI, MKV, FLV, WebM, MOV, M4V, MP4, 3GP, MPEG, plus most common variants. Video is converted to MP4 (H.264 or HEVC + AAC) so it plays everywhere Apple plays video; with “Audio only” switched on you get an M4A instead.

Where do my converted files end up?

The converted MP4 is saved to your Photos library, in the standard "Recents" album. Audio-only (M4A) extractions are saved to the Files app instead, since Photos doesn't accept audio.

How long does conversion take?

Depends on the file — Formatista picks the fastest path. Files that are already mostly MP4-compatible can be repackaged in seconds; files that need a full transcode take roughly real-time on a modern iPhone (a 5-minute clip ≈ 5 minutes).

Can I convert a really big file?

As long as you have free space for the output. Formatista uses a sandboxed scratch area; if you run out of space mid-conversion the app will surface a clear error and clean up.

Does it work without internet?

Yes — the only thing that needs internet is downloading from a URL you paste in. Picking a local file and converting works fully offline.

How much does it cost?

Formatista is free. No ads, no tracking, no in-app purchases.
